I normally will pair the smaller ones, as I have experience with bigger specimens that they will fight to the end...

So far, I have pretty good results with those around 1 inch, maybe they are still at the drone stage and it is easier to establish dominance between the two fishes.

clown fishes sexs are difficult to tells.

most are born as male. However they will have 1 dominate female and male in the community.

If dominate female dies the dominate males will change ###### and become dominate female. The rest of the gang will move up the next level of status

I have a book called " Clownfish and Anemones" if you are intrested I can lend.

cheers

Moxa

that's the correct way to do it since u nv noe whether u r getting 2 females from LFS if both clownfishes r of larger size ;)

Clown fish do not really have a ######.

They will change ###### depending on the group they are in. kinda handy huh! :whistle

The fish live in monogamous pairs since there is usually only enough room for two fish on each anemone. In this case the reproductive potential of both fish of a pair is limited by a female's ability to produce eggs since even a small male can produce more than enough sperm to fertilize all her eggs. Under these circumstances it is most advantageous for the female to be as large as possible since larger females lay more eggs than small ones. As one might suspect clown fish start off life as males and only become females later in life when they are larger. Here again, ###### change is socially controlled. A male changes into a female only when his female partner is removed and he is joined by a smaller fish. This is called protandrous hermaphroditism.
