1/3hp should be enough for you.. but u can go for 1/2hp if u want..

go to the website below, use their guide to help u choose the correct size chiller

http://www.jbjlighting.com/prod_chiller_size.asp

Alternatively, u can get a Daeil chiller which is basically the same as Artica but much cheaper ;)

thanks for the good link.

i try to key in the stats.

and i recommend me 1/4 HP.

Anyone can help me out to see if i key in the right info on the wattage?

Tank 3ft * 3 ft * 2.6ft

Sump 3ft * 2ft * 1.4ft

MH Atmah = Powered by - MH 150W plus blue tube 24W X 2

Return pump = Weipro 6000

that all the items.

maybe adding in Tunze or Rio Seio820 (2 units) in the future.

Ekia can u help me to calculate what is the recommended HP for me?

Just to double confirm.

Thank you.

bro zorden,

after cal' , if it tell you to get 1/4hp jbj or daeil chiller. Then you have to get 1/3hp chiller. jbj advice reefer to take the next hp model'.

The volume of water in your sump.. in my opinion. you can don't add it in. As we are adding live rock to our main tank. (water volume will be lesser). Plus the sump will contain Eg: bio balls , dsb etc...

To be extra careful.. you can treat your main tank's volume as 'if not live rock added. ' can leave the sump volume out.. unless you have a 50-100g Refugium tank.. then > another story.

or you can cal' every thing in detail.. volume of your tank and sump etc. up to you. ;)

But you need to add (total watts for your pumps, lighting, wavemaker etc) and the desired temp that you want to maintance.

The watt consume for 1/4 hp or 1/3 hp JBJ or daeil chiller for asia' model will be different from the infor in their wedsite..

eg the jbj wedsite may inform : 1/4hp consume around 200w or 1/3hp consume around 350 w..

For the asia model.. 1/4hp will consume more than 420 watts. and 1/3hp will consume 564watts. so on... In formation of these asia model > eaquanature.com website

My tankmaker had checked with their dealer. Reasons : the lower watt @ their wedsite > based on lower voltage and compressor is for europe. Our climate requires different compressor unit.

Although his is a 3ft tank.. but look at his height and width.. it contains a larger volume than a 4x2x2.. so i think 1/3hp will be good...

Thanks Ekia. ;)

well now considering for a 1/3HP. :pirate:

my tank maker ask me to get a 1/2 or 1HP if use those china brand ones..

For daeil .. 1yr .. For jbj .. should be 2yr. (strong local support < JBJ)

That why daeil chiller > cheaper ... :o

pls note .... daeil or jbj.. 0.5 or 1hp model > is a commerical type.

Anyway for DAeil you can go to Block 22 boon Keng Road.

Artrica 1/2 HP which is a commerical version is very noisy. :o

can anyone out there who use this equipment. How noisy is the noise? :o

Is 1/2 HP hotter than 1/3?

me like to going for something QUIET and also not so HOT

Bro, majority of the noise wil be from the fan running when its cooling down the water. Lots of reefers here are using it... apart from the louder than usual noise (when compared to the 'hobby' version). there are no other complains. It cools effectively considering that its a 1/2 hp 'only'. For once, I think sumone actually under-rated the chiller instead of over-rating it like the china ppl are notorious for. ;)

The commercial version is super quiet by the way....after the initial fan problem it became even quieter then expected. Sometimes I wonder if it's really working at all and I have to go near it to hear it producing some form of noise. The best chiller ever and cooling capacity is superb. ;)

can consider buying one...

but wait..

how the heat...

i want it to be too HOT...

and unbearable?

i heard that certain brand of chillers make your room feel like Sauna.
