Hi brothers,

If I have restriction of getting a pump-driven skimmer and can only use an air-bubble type, which will be a good skimmer to go for? My tank is 4ft x 2ft x 2ft.

Thanks :D

I have a restriction due to the way my tank is setup. Have no choice, I did try to explore ways but cant.

Have to go for air-bubble type, but I did hear some model can support 4x2x2 tank??? :(

i still dun get what u mean by air-bubble types........ all skimmers works by exporting DOC with fine air bubbles.

if u r talking abt hang on skimmers, u might wanna seek out macro needlewheel, Aquamedic Multi SL, AquaC Remora pro, etc.

Maybe if you can state your budget, it would be easier for fellow reefers to help you in your choice of a skimmer. ;)

Maybe I can help give a rough guide, the skimmers below are commonly used by the local reefers. Tried and proven?

Less than $100: Weipro

$100 - $300: Macro

$300 - $600: Can't think of any, maybe others can help?

$600 + : Aqua C, H&S, Euroreef, Beckett, Aquamedic etc

You realise the better skimmers will be priced higher. If you do not have a sump, can consider the hang-on Aqua C or the out-sump types.

Actually I am now using a $8 air-driven type skimmer. Cheap stuff for my 4ft tank.

Surprisingly my NO3 is kept at 10ppm for months. Maybe due to my DSB lor...so heng heng :lol:

Anyway I want to play safe more and upgrade to a better skimmer, thanks

bro, i last time also use the $8 type, then i upgrade to ViaAqua Skimmer hang on skimmer, then again upgrade to weipro. Finally now upgrade to aquamedic. If i were to upgrade straight to what i have now..i can save quite abit. Maybe u may like to save up ur cash then upgrade straight to a better skimmer. The better kind of skimmer also have hang on type.

Hope this helps.
