i recently came across someone's tank, i can't remember who, on this forum and he used egg crates to elevate the live rocks at the back.

jus some questions on my mind

1)is this method stable?...will the crates crack and cause the rocks to fall?

2)do many use this to save up on the cost of the rocks?

appreciate the comments and advice :peace::thanks::kiss:

thanks

Hi.....apparantly thats not the main purpose of it....although partly resulting is saving some cost.........bascially it allow the DSB to have more surface area exposed to create its miracle I should say.........check out the infor on DSB; deep sand bed! ;)

Actually you can check out those baskets from toyogo... IMO they can double up as LR stand too if the sizes suit you. ... furthermore its cheap, just cost a few bucks only.... cheaper than eggcrate...

I got 1 for my quarantine chamber too... $1 only. hehe

Just a suggestion.

make sure that they will not be visible, if not its gonna look very very unnatural...

creates more space for big fishes to hide as well...but dun forget tat by doing this, u will sacrifice the goodness of having more LRs...

ah...

Agree to this... but a small cube/ rectangular type for those who don't have the space for a refugium will fine this beneficial as it doubles up as a refugium within your tank.

I cable-tie the pieces together and form a small rectangular shape. So far it has proven to be sturdy.

Cheers
