i think it is suitable for a fish only tank ONLY. Its cheap but its lifespan depends on the number of hours you use everyday.

Used one before and it died after 3 week.

Btw i used it on a 2 footer and did not have a chiller. It doesn't contribute that much heat to the tank.

No point changing to Aquaz tube using the old ballast. Aquaz tube is HO at 24w for 2 footer. Aquaz tube will not be using its full potential if you use the old ballast. as old ballast support till 20w only.

Btw you using for what tank size? i diy a 2 footer dymax with Osram ballast and aquaz tube. Since decommission my 2ft, may wan to sell that away.

i did not buy . i intend 2 buy the 3 feet fixture.any reefers can recommend good 2.5 feet light fixtures that don't require chiller one.

best is to DIY a T5 set yourself... since your tank is 2.5ft.. u can use DIY a 2.5ft fixture with 2ft T5s..

I am using a customised 2.5ft tank with a Dymax 2ft T5 Set. So far I am quite happy with the lightings and I only keep FOWLR. The legs of this Dymax T5 can be extended to sit comfortably on my 2.5ft tank. If you want to have a 2ft light set on 2.5ft tank, make sure both ends of your tank must have the extra supporting bracing glass, cos 2ft light will not be able to stratch to reach the ends of the tank.
