can a sump and tank be placed on the same level?

will there be a problem with the overflow?

can.. but provide your sump and tank is joint together with no leaking..

e.g. sump is behind the tank..

if i were to drill a hole in e side of the main tank, how will the water flow into the sump if the 2 tanks are on e same level?

nope.....just that the water level in the sump will be lower then the tank.....no matter what i don't think its possible to maintain the 2 at same water level.....

also look at the hang-on I-Ref.....it uses basically the same theory except in reverse

Both Tank and Sump Height can be the same. Not the water level.

The tank water would be determin by the hole you drill.

The tank water will overflow into the sump. Then after all the baffles, the last compartment where the return pump is will be the lowers water level.

This is where the pump will bring the sump water to the main tank.

if i drill 2 holes of the same height and size in the sump and tank, and place them on the same level as each other but the water level in e tank is higher than e sump, the water from e tank will naturally flow to the sump rite?

Yes, it'll flow naturally.

Had seem some1 did it before.
