what other reasons might contribute to the raise of nitare?

i only got 4fishes.

2xclowns

1xsmall blue tang

1xyt

prizm skimmer

feed once a day.got refugium with DSB and macro algea.

tank 6months old.

got a few pieces of LR on top of the refugium sandbed, will this affect the efficient of the DSB?

1. insufficient flow in main tank resulting in accumulated detritus built up.

2. immatured dsb (some take more than 6 mths to work). sandbed does not hv the require exposure area to work? dsb more deep enuff (at least 4" IMHO)?

3. inefficient skimmer? prizm is good enuff for a moderate bio load to a tank size of abt 2.5 to 3ft IMHO.

4. high bio load? depends on how big is ur tank (4 fishes might be a lot).

5. water change? using RO/DI?

IME, i render the seachem denitrator useless. i hv tried to no success 2. maybe tineng is right, need to run it under 200L/hr.
