will seachem de*nitrate become nitrate factory?

my nitrate recently getting higher. >50ppm using salifert testkit.

everything seems normal. and suspect that it is cause by the canicter filter with seachem de*nitrate . anyone can advise on that?

a bit off-topic....but i though De*nitrate needs to run in a flow of < 200 L per hour????? most canister has more then that for their flowrate......

i tuned it to slower flow. and is use for few months liao.

i switched the filter off since yesterday. will moniter for the next few days and see if nitrate level drop. change water many times liao but don see much improvement.

tank 6months old.

got a few pieces of LR on top of the refugium sandbed, will this affect the efficient of the DSB?

1. insufficient flow in main tank resulting in accumulated detritus built up.

2. immatured dsb (some take more than 6 mths to work). sandbed does not hv the require exposure area to work? dsb more deep enuff (at least 4" IMHO)?

3. inefficient skimmer? prizm is good enuff for a moderate bio load to a tank size of abt 2.5 to 3ft IMHO.

4. high bio load? depends on how big is ur tank (4 fishes might be a lot).

5. water change? using RO/DI?

IME, i render the seachem denitrator useless. i hv tried to no success 2. maybe tineng is right, need to run it under 200L/hr.
