will trigger kill mantis shrimp?

will trigger kill the amantis shrimp or should i remove the LR it is hiding?

just saw a mantis shrimp in my tank about 2 cm long. what a shock i got! wondering if it is responsible for the death of my longhorned cowfish

i heard trigger helps to solve the mantis problem...but then again, triggers will become your problem soon...unless he is a MANTIS-ONLY hunter...

u will be better off hunting down the mantis shrimp urself than to rely on a trigger. why leave things to mother nature when u hv control over the situation.

i know i should not leave it to nature but.....

dare not distrupt the live rocks, afraid that i might crush my crab which is a good cleaner of my tank.

also the greater fear is to touch the worm-like thing... disgusting leh..

ai yah..... guess i have to gather all my courage to touch that piece of rock

u have helped me to make up my mind . i will get a real thick glove first.

dun think about catchin it even with thick gloves...

IMO, not save

try your best to take out that piece of rock where he is staying...and kill him...catching it with bare hands seems suicidal (defintely injure yourself)

thanks for the tips. have read other threads regarding the hunting of this pest. still observing, making sure which rock it is hiding. so far, i only see one mantis shrimp.

Get a hawkfish, my friend just bought one and put in in the night, then next morning, can see the mantis shrip dead there liao, it is cheap at$6-8 only, try sealife

getting rid of mantis...

tong bing xiang lian still trying to locate the shrimp leh. no sign of it liao after the first sighting. hope it is in my trigger's tummy since that LR is just next to the trigger's room.

anyway, will get a hogfish as suggested by bro iori_del.

just now i went to my new house to see my fish tank..

woah...to my surprise...alot of Crabs and one feather worm...

lots of crabs..i am using the inverted mineral bottle trick...

but how should i put it..

i placed it diagonal against the rock for the crab to enter...

so far one crab went in...

btw..notice that Mantis is a valuable item for ppl in RC.

one guy even ask me to keep it..and sell it ....

why don't you have this as a trigger tank? so u don't have to spend time catching the crab and the mantis shrimp. and there are beautiful and interesting trigger fish around.

the mantis shrimp in my tank really no sign liao, also no new victim. i stared at my tank until abt 'shoot bird' already.

get a small n sharp fish hook & hook a small piece of prawn. but the sharp point muz be protruding out a bit. wait for the mantis to come n eat then hook it like fishing style. if u went prawn fishing, u'llknow what mean. hope this help.

using a hogfish may not be an ans. if u cant catch it out n intro other fishes in, then itz food for it.
