Wat's wrong with my water?

Hi all,

discovered that I cant seem to keep cup corals, the polyps will shrink up and its the 2nd one that I tried, after I shifted the coral to my friend's tank, it started to open again and when I shift it back to my tank, it refuses to open again....

My other corals are doing pretty okay except SPS, really ran out of ideas as to wat maybe wrong...

Temp always below 29 and circulation provided by a Tunze6060 and my return Eheim 1262 and a small Sicce pump... all in my 3x2x2 tank, still too little flow??

I assume you are using accurate test kits.

1) Your Ca level is too low. It should at least be 350ppm.

2) Mg levels are a little low too. Should be at least 1200ppm.

3) Do a check on your pH just before lights on and just before lights off.

it may also hv to do wif ur acclimatization regime. IMHO, without proper acclimatization; most sps due to its sensitive nature, might not be able to take the stress due to the sudden change of environment and water parameters.

maybe u wld like to share how u used to acclimatize ur sps?

I was surprised how fast my magnesium dropped, was 1200ppm juz about 1.5 months ago, so went to buy magnesium today to dose after the last one finished...

Now trying to get the dkh and calcium up...

As for the acclimatization, used a container to house the SPS, den add my tank water slowly bit by bit over a perios of about half an hour... Must I go slower than dat? but one problem I have is that I'm very clumsy when it comes to epoxying the frag to the rock, is there a proper way to do it??? Wat epoxy is good? using Salifert now, like not too effective, sometimes become very slippery and the frag like coming loose, so i have to press the frag hard into the epoxy to must sure it sticks...

Anyone can advise where I went wrong??

u can use deltec or tunze epoxy. alternatively can oso try Selley's.

The cup coral only requires moderate current flow. I tried putting it in high current area and it close up as well.

Lighting is also important else it will turn white.
