Hi

I just bought a Dymax 20KK bulb over the weekend to replace the 10KK (Coral life) bulb in my Atman MH fixture. When I fixed it up, the bulb lights up, 5 to 10 mins later it will off itself. Then awhile later it will light again. Anyone know whats wrong or if the Dymax bulb cant fit? Everything's in order, tried fitting it other ways, checking the prints on the bulb etc but still no luck. Gonna call the shop i bought it from to change. Any help in the meantiime? :thanks:

 From 10kk to 20kk...you should check the ballast for the maximum wattage it can supply to..

The fixing should have no problem but the electrical principle of it could be wrong.

Example:- The wattage on you FL starter must comply to the wattage on FL tube or it won't light up.

Maybe your ballast heat up to its maximum then shut down & later re-start after cooling down automatically.

Check the electrical spec first & don't forget to diconnect the mains before you do so.

When I bought the bulb, there was a 20kk coral life bulb. I asked whats the diff and he said the coral life bulb is more blue & also require a more powerful ballast (or something, I cant remember). Dun know if thats the case.

So what can I do now other than change the ballast? Confirm I cant use the Dymax bulb? Hope I can get it changed man!

Evrything goes hand-in-hand.....just like one big jigsaw puzzle...each piece must fit to form the correct picture.

Your ballast must be big enough to fire up your bulb......your bulb must not exceed the ballast wattage....& so on.

You can either can ballast to a higher wattage compared with the new bulb or you can change the bulb to a lower wattage to be compatible with your ballast. Either way you should know what you need......a whiter/bluish tank or brighter.....& of course your budget....

Now, the Kelvin value has nothing to do with the power of the bulb.

What's the wattage capacity of your ballast?

A 150w ballast can only fire a 150w bulb

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

hi bro,

the bulbs K does not matter....this is what i find out after i dismantle my Atman housing.

the MH gear only consist of Magnetic ballast n ignitor...no capacitor.....maybe china wanna save cost by doing so.

as for the firing up that u have problem.....i think its ur RX7 holder.....check on the connector as i believe there are carbon built up that is affecting the firing...

see if im right ;)
