lighting question

hi all, i just installed a 250w mh 20kk, it's about 12 inches above the water. i also have 2x39w t5ho 20kk, 1 39w actinic and 1 39w 10kk t5hos. my tank is 2.5ft deep but the water is about 22" considering the dsb and allowance from top of the tank.

considering no shadows, what would be the lighting level on the upper half and lower half of my tank? how do you know if strong or not anyway? let's say i want to keep leather which i think needs 'low' lighting, would putting it in the sans bed be ok?

thanks for the help.

hi bro,

a single 250watts will not have a good coverage even if u use a spider reflectors. the most it will cover @ 2ft wide which the bulb is @ 8-9inches above the water level.

but if u gonna keep lps, than its ok as u can place them at the side of ur tank where there are not much light.

u cant put higher as u will loose the intensity of the lights......

my 2 cent worth
