hey guys, i try to feed live ghost shrimps to my Seahorse last sat. They are very lazy in hunting the shrimps and eventually, i can tell they ate some, cause i can see a little shxx coming out from their hole. But most of the shrimps die in the water when i came back. I am afraid it will cause nitrate to bloom.. normally how u guys feed the Seahorse if they reject the shrimp? Do you normally put alot or just sufficient? and it seems that the smaller size shrimps are also too big for their mouth. How ar?

Hi souphamsterm,

Feeding SH is very diff. from others. You have to start with pcs. by pcs. ie. throw one shrimp at the time and get the SH attention. Once the SH eat, throw another in. If the shrimp die, take it out. You have to 'teach' them till they get to 'know' you better. By then, whatever you throw in, they will accept. The other impt. thing, make sure the shrimp is small enough for them to suck in.

You can try adapting the ghost shrimps to full strength seawater slowly. and i mean SLOWLY.

If not you can always get baby mollies as emergency backup. Kwang's Aquarium at Crane Rd sells them

Always something more important than fish.
