How to use camera by the beach?

ok i wont be going scuba diving but will be by the beach and so i wana know how to protect my digicam from salt/water while at the beach?

should i get a casing or just use a plastic bag?

The best way is to keep ur camera at home... since u at the beach and the camera at home, sure no prob!!

don't bother about the plastic bag thing, unless you intend to have water come into contact with the camera.

do not bring the camera into the water. if necessary, make sure it lands on the body and not on the moving parts of the camera, like the leaf blades of the lens, or the zoom mechanism of the lens.

also, if there is contact, wipe it with a soft dry cloth. after that, go to a camera shop and buy a bottle of silica gel. you can also buy them from the film developing shops. after that, get one of those small ziplock bags, throw some in, poke a few holes in the ziplock bag with a needle. *when poking, make sure no silica gel inside first.*

after that, put camera in another ziplock bag, and throw silica gel ziplock bag inside that ziplock bag. *make sure silica gel ziplock bag is sealed before you throw!* also, make sure you seal the camera holding ziplock bag up tightly. put this two bags into a dark and cool place, like your wardrobe. this should help remove the moisture that may have unwittingly found its way to the camera. if you have dry box/cabinet, don't bother! just throw inside.

also, make sure you do not leave silica gel in direct contact with camera! I was told not to do so, but I do not know the reason behind it.

The new Olympus model is weather proof. But not sure whether it can be used underwater...but i dun think so??? anyone has that camera?

If you want to be extra safe, you can get a underwater casing for your camera.

Alternatively, you can visit Cathayphoto or any other camera shop to buy a transparent bag like casing that can be used to protect your camera.

Bro, weatherproof is not waterproof, weather proof cameras can be used in countries where its very cold and water vapour does seep in or the cold doesn't jam the mechanics within the camera.... but if u use it underwater, the good thing is dat you'll get a new camera, coz you probably need to buy a new one!!
