Can HL-380CA support 4 x 2 x 2.5 Tank

Hi Guys

I am planning to upgrade my current 3 x 1.5x 1.5 marine tank to at leat 4 x 2 x 2.5 ft tank. Was wondering if the current lighting and chiller can support the new tank ?

I have 4 x 24w PL tube and 2 x 150w MH and using hailea 380 chiller(8 mth old)

My slump is 1.5 x 1.5 x 2 ft

Please give me your opinion and experience on existing tank that your guys have.... Thank a million

what's ur chiller rated capacity?

2.5 ft depth, depending on what u wanna keep. it might not be enuff for sps and clams.

The rated cooling capacity is 380 liter and Current I set the temperatue at 26 C.

The 2.5 is the Height.

firstly...china brands always over-rate the equipments they produce..

380 litres as stated? i think your 4 feet tank plus sump confirm more than that..

and dun trust the ratings completly..

resun CL650 was rated for 1000 litres..

it couldnt even perform the job for me thought my tank was maximum 500 litres...

ur 4x2x2.5 will be approx 550L true water vol discounting sandbed and LRs.

ur sump will be approx 150L true water volume if u r carrying on using the same 1.5x1.5x2 sump, which i doubt so.

total will be abt 700L, ur hailea is only able to cool 380L of water. IMHO, u had better go for a overrated chiller of abt capacity 1000L.

moreover, u set ur temp at 26 which is quite low. chiller hv to work longer and harder.

as for lights, as u intend to keep sps and clams, minimum, and i mean bare minimum. at least 2x250W MH.

Don't think HL-380 can support your 4ft. For this brand> at least 1hp model. unless >>>>> you are using (lots of live rocks, less tank water') , chiller and tank> located in air-con room. Then should not be a problem.

What i know>> Too bad, the better model > aqua medic titan > dealer >> not selling it. as aqual medic (chiller range) > agreed with hailea..

Aqua medic titan 0.5hp can serve up around 750 lites. too bad.. go for daeil 1/3 hp chiller >> good choice.. i am getting this model too.

China chiller .. china pump >> forget about it.
