coralline has more of a purplish hue...yours may be the nuisance red algae that grows where circulation is poor...

coraline algae will encrust on the rocks...touch it, if it easily gets sweep away then it should be cyano...

if it is really coraline, get some kind of urchin (not too sure which)...they eat coraline algae...

experts pls advise on the urchin type...

The Black Longspine Urchin, also known as Long-spined Sea Urchin, has a body which is predominately black with a red eyespot in the center. The spines on these urchins are long, thin and completely black. These urchins are excellent algae controllers for an aquarium housing aggressive fish.

I was using the above till it got too big for my 2ft The spines dame scary... Was a great helper and cleaner

orange is nice!! hehe... i got red and a bit of green as well.. luckily mostly are purple though....

the electric blue drawf hermit crab are quite good.....they eat both cyno and coraline algae!!!! was wondering why my coraline algae grows on glass and pumps but not much on rocks until i saw the hermit crab eating it!!!
