MH 25OW - SE or DE which is better???

Hi,

In the market, 250WMH light fixtures comes in SE and DE.

In term of functionality(efficiency etc) and availability(price, brand), which will be a better investment?

Appreciated all inputs.

Nowadays, generally, ppl are going for DE MHs due to more availability and also more product range to choose from. 250w DE is generally also more efficient than SE

there are pro and cons for using both bulbs. As for DE bulbs are more expensive than the SE bulbs. I think find SE bulbs have more choices and for those who intend to diy, the best is still the SE bulbs.

SE bulbs do not require UV glass but, when you get a SE fixture, they tend to be rather big compare to DE fixtures.

As for me, im using DE bulbs but i still find most DE fixture does not come with a good reflectors. So it will not have a good spread. I may be wrong...

for a cheaper alternative and value for $$, i still find SE are better....

in my opinion..DE bulbs does not give a good spread, so it will look more concentrated and less natural...

your new tank is a 6ft tank, maybe u might wanna go for 3X250W and use spider reflectors to give it a good spread throughout your tank...

250W DE bulbs also come in less variety..so it might be difficult to hunt down the colour temp that u want...if u are going for 10kk or 20kk, then its easily available...but for 14kk ranges, i dun think its easy to find...
