Yes they will survive provided other issues are addressed, such as flow etc

You will need to have them high in the tank and close to the max light footprint.

150W 20,000k is not ideal due to lack of PAR, but i've seen it work

Ah thanks............

I used to have a bright blue frag DIRECTLY under the water surface just below a 150w 10k bulb. It turned completely brown within 2 weeks.

Yes, sps will survive but you will never get nice good colours from 150watts.

It's not just about the light wattage, there are too many factors to discuss briefly. Generally, I'll place 250W bulbs as the minimum for good colouration (unless you like brown and green).

250watts can keep sps alive huh

even 20inch below light ??????????????????????

also give good colouration huh???????????

then why some people use 400watts wan???????????????

any difff. other than PAR

since both can keep sps,,,,,,,,,,then bother to use 400watts wan?????????

Because they have bigger tanks.

Because they have deeper tanks.

Because they prefer to use Blue bulbs.

Because they want faster growth.

Because they want better colours.

Example of a Brown under 150w (10k). bought as brown stays as brown. Green also stays as green

There is a general rule to watt to depth ratio- but water quality, calcium levels, water circulation and a handful of other factors i think play big roles. Its when you put them all together you get optimum conditions.

There should be some SPS requirements in the SPS section soon. (it was lost recently)

Er.... wat is SPS and Frag? I am new in marine aquarium.

I am having a 5' x 2' x 2.5' tank (just set up). I am intending to use 2 nos of 150W 20k mh, does it means that it is not enough?
