Anemone

Hi all,

Just wanted to ask all the experts here about Anemone. I have an anemone initially color is brownish, but now it seems like getting whiter and whiter, eventhough it still open very widely. I have another anemone also same problem but this one now getting smaller and smaller but it looks like still alive. Anyone can please enlighten me.

Your anemone is bleached due to insufficient lights. Anemone requires high lighting.

Thanks for info. I have 2 T5 flourecent with 1 white and 1 blue, still not enough? My tank only 2x1x1.

I used to have PLs and was able to colour back a bleach anemone (thought it was a pretty white when I bought it)

Is the temperature of your tank high? I find that they do not do very well in warm waters.

My temperature is around 30 Deg C room temperature, I know it may be abit hot, but invest a chiller for 2 ft tank is abit ex. Anyway, I'm planning to setup a new tank either 3 or 4 ft by end of this year.

Try using a fan.

I used it and the temp is kept at ard 27-28 very useful for small tanks like ours!

And regarding the anemone, hope u are not feeding it too much yeah?

I think teh probles are due to insufficent lights and too warm a temperature.

Try using a fan, it'll bring the temperature down within hours.

I think 30 is a little high. As Travy suggest, a fan helps. My nano tanks are around 26-27 degrees with the fans. The evaporation is the downside. What I do is I just top up with water every morning first thing I wake up.

yup, just use a fan for a small tank, usually the evaporation rate is about 3 litres per day so keep a lookout on your tank..
