as per today straits times:

ELECTRICITY tariffs will increase by an average of 1.1 per cent or 0.18 cents per kilowatt-hour (kwh) from Oct 1 to Dec 31.

The tariff increase is primarily due to the higher cost of electricity resulting from higher oil prices.

I get this feeling that even if the oil prices drop, the electricity tariffs will remain until the next election time :whistle .... So, conveniently, can increase the price now... Afterall, it's a monopoly, either u pay, or u can migrate liao....

i tot last time the power trip, it is the gas pipe from Indo got problem??

so our electricity come from Fuel or Gas??

from oil and gas so when oil go up, they increase price. when gas go up, they increase price.

neber hear them say becos govt got foresight, we diversified our fuel sources so when oil go up, we use more gas instead of oil, thus our people do not need to suffer.

sigh what do to??? P A P mah :P

anyone knows where to get the rates for electricity?  i want to do some calculations to see how much my mh are costing me.  wife claims it is way too much  :(

Wattage (in kW) x Cost per kWh ($0.18) X Hours run (24hrs) x Days (30days)

= cost per month

say for example you running 100W pump continuous for a month

0.1kW x $0.18 x 24 x 30

= $12.96 one month ;)

maybe some of us may consider using oars to move water......banana leaves to fan the water.....and series of mirrors to light up the reef

http://www.psupply.com.sg/cs_services_elec_latest-rates.htm

New Rate (w.e.f. 1 Oct 2004) - 16.53¢/kWh (Residential)

You may wish to estimate your electricity bill using the table on electricity consumption by appliance and your usage hours, or use the online "consumption calculator" available at http://www.psupply.com.sg/cs_services_energy-audit.asp

For example, 2 x 150W MH at 8 hrs usage per day

The estimated electricity consumption in a month is:

72 kWH or $11.90

(Based on the current tariff rate of 16.53 cents/kWH)

Ok, now let's sit down and calculate how much $$$ we are paying to run our equipments. :P

well... u can on the tempreture of air conditioner at 23degree celcius .

......and when at night.... switch off the mains of ur television.... the plug..... it saves electricity......

switch on the a/c to maintain 23 degrees? that will consume even more electricity.

nope.. what i mean is ... if u switch on the air con for ur own body cooling and not for ur tank.. switch it at 23 degrees celcius instead of 18 degree celcius.... will use lesser power...... ;) as if the air con if switch on at 23 degree celcius can still be very cooling....

how about not using the air conditioner at all. the split unit series does not circulate air...meaning there is no exchange of air from the outside environment. meaning you are breathing in the same stale air you inhaled hours ago. read from an article in the newspaper regarding this. above mentioned is not true if you are using a dedicated unit.
