hi reeffer... i very confused about h/p in chiller?which ones better 1/10 h/p or 1/4h/p? im quite new about chiller n my resun chiller 280 which i bought less a year giving problem already.unable to chill my 3 ft

h/p or horse power. refers to the capacity of the chiller to work, in an equivilant to one real life horse running at full force. much like your car's hp. (=

as for chiller, the closer the figure is to 1, the more powerful it is. then again, it depends on different chiller as different chillers have different benchmarks for hp ratings. (=

was getting a new air-con before, the air-con man told me that Jap air-con when compared to european air, even thought they are rated at the same horsepower, the cooling capacity is very much weaker.....some joke about asian horses thinner then european horses......

I wonder if the same applies to aquarium chiller...

IME, Compressor Rating normally cannot run (siam) one. especially true for reknown compressors in the market from North America, Western Europe and Japan.

the thing which comes into much discrimination is when the cooling capcity of the system comes into play. as cooling capacity is judged upon by the cooling power of the system as a whole and not the compressor itself. many things comes into consideration. the cooling core, size of tubing, refrigerant amt (superheat), size of condenser, blower fan power, etc.

much depends on the ambient temperature and the load given to work too. diff countries, diff atmosphere, diff humidity, diff temp.

I suppose this apply to all stuff, like engine capacity, different makes of same cc gives different power, printers with same resolution also different quality, TV with same definition also different picture quality, memory card fro cameras, different makes gives you different speed although same size, different cameras with same mega pixels also gives you different quality prints, there you go! So better check out with existing users to get first hand experience before buying.

oso cannot like that say la bro........ all i m saying is cooling capacity is juz a guideline, but compressor rating is hard and concrete.
