It's been a long time since I update... was very busy recently...

Tank is ok... added a RM beckett skimmer... now tankmates have improved tremendously... polyps are opened most of the time... more yumas have also sprung up...

However, due to a careless switch of my RM calcium reactor... many corals suffered a melt-down... 2 clams died... calcium level dropped from 420 to 280 ... sigh...

I may be a few of the crazy ones setting up a 30inch Beckett on a 2.5ft tank... :P

Here's a picture taken from a sony 828... 8mega pixel camera...

overskim is better than underskim... though there's lots of hidden facts among these

hmm... will see how it goes... thx

U switch off Cal Reactor for how long??? CA level plunge because of that?

I think it is a few days ... cos I have not been at home much since Christmas... do you suspect there is other culprits?

11dKH... pH is 8.4... 1.025... 1200 for magnesium...

I do realised that from Nov 10 CA level was at 400... then Nov 20 CA level was at 380... Dec 10 was at 360... then refill the CO2... that's when levels drop to 280... could that be the cause?

Here's a close up of my blastos... doing ok...

Wah that cam very good... most ex sony cam... bro roidan ex cam was also sony f828

I realised for close-ups, can still pass... but would have been better if it has inter-changable lens... I think I would have gotten the Nikon D-70 if I had known eariler that they drop the price down to $1600...

Also, the Sony 828 has an ISO limitation of up to 800... not good enough for low light conditions....

On the good side, it has 8mega pixel and you can actually put in both Sony Memory and CF card... thus you get double the storage at any given time.

Lens is ok la... just have to live with it...

Here's a back view of my tank...

seems like your Ca Level has been dipping way before you accidentally switched it off....

best do brin git up and monitor closely whether it dips again....

Possible CO2 tank empty for quite a while liao??

it's a good all in one camera :)

but from an ex-user, i realised that i cannot bear to shoot reef at above iso200 on the f828 because noise issues start to set in...very heavy noise....whereas you could probably get away at iso 800 with a D70 with less noise. It's the inherent noise problem of packing too many pixels into a small CCD...whjch is why i went the dslr way.

but the f828 has served me well, i am sure it would for you too.

Happy shooting your reef :)

Love your derasa

Have been looking for 1 for a long long time

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

To me, you will be unique in all the world.

To you, I shall be unique in all the world...

You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.
