Hi, I am having a small setup and is thinking of getting a good skimmer for the nano setup. I am looking at using the hang on type skimmer which can save some tank space.

Personally, I have used a Red Sea prizm before, but is not very satisfied about its performance, and will like to find out the other options available.

I have read about AquaC Remora and Deltec, but essentially the information have some slaes pitch to it.

So I am seeking opinions and comments from users as well as recommendations of any other brands that I can consider.

hi ozy,

small setup??? how small is small, care to share the tank vol?

IME, i hv used the red sea prizm and AquaC Remora b4. hv not used the Deltc H.O.T skimmer b4 so shall nor comment on that.

IMHO, prizm was doing fine till i started venture deeper into corals. the capacity of the skimmer is overrated. AquaC looks good and work fine. in fact, i wld say it is better in terms of performance as compared to the prizm. u can ask hippo, he bought my Remora. ;)

there some other hang ons in the market, i believe the macro needlewheel can oso be hang on and the reviews on it so far are quite positive. but of coz, it wun be as slick looking as the meant to be H.O.T skimmers like deltec or remora.

juz me 2 cents. :)

It is 2 ft (L) by 1.5 ft (H) by 7 inch (W), it is an odd tank as I got it second hand from a friend. I am using 2 x 24W ATI T5 so there isn't much place left on top for using the air stone skimmers.

I have read from the nano reef forum that I should not consider skimming as the skimmer will take out the essential elements. Not sure if that is true

i using weipro 2012 on a 10g tank.....and i'm feeding my fish alot because i'm fattening them up for a move to their new tank....so far so good....No3 now close to 0.2pmm due to overfeeding....except for my left over SPS most of the corals seems to be doing ok....

Personally, I find the performance of prizm quite disappointing too. But there are a number of reefers who have achieve good skimmate too.

I intended to keep the more exotic corals in the tank (inspired by the tanks in irwana) so I will want to get a good skimmer. :)

My main constraint is the size of the space available for the skimmer (or power head).

Yes. I got AquaC remora skimmer from LightingStrike. Thanks again pal. ;)

AquaC remora skimmer is effective. Combination with maxijet 1200 for quite operation.

The pics below show the skimmate is not very dirty because of the bioload is not heavy enough.. not of its performance.
