anyone keeping lionfishes?

Juz bought one red and one black volitans from farm yesterday...

Interesting and beautiful buggers... unfortunately they can grow to 14"...

Anyone has any big volitans in their tank or dwarf lions?

Theres a new batch at pasir ris drive 12.

but no more blacks... left 2 reds and a few nice cream copper ones... 18 each ard 4" long and 6-7" wide...

go to the one selling arowanas. Theres a marine shop inside..

Finally managed to get the shrimp to feed my new volitans...

fattened them up at last... but the red one seems to keep swimming with tail downwards and head facing up...

did he eat too much?

Try weaning them to marine food. e.g. market prawns, lance fish, squids, etc. That will ensure their longevity. I'm keeping three big volitans and gisnt frogfish:) I have one in the tank for almost two years now.

volitans are a hell lot easier to wean compared to their other cousins. A little patience is all you need.

dont feed lions too much just feed enough when u see the tummy abit bulging cna liao..cannot feed too much n feed it thrice a day

Thanks... my red volitans taking grey prawn peices but my black is still hesitant...

abit shy la he... the red one most active... even took a few mysis for a taste when i was feeding my tangs...

i kept 2 volitans before..they r easy to keep..especially when u feed them their mouth is like a vacuum actually uncanny u can mix ma eel also cna but beware of bioload eels lions tnags poo alot too

My zebra abit too big for comfort in my upper tank... thought of placing him and my big snowflake below... easier on my filteration too... esp since i'm aiming for one more moray to finish my collection...

so one eel tank and a lion/tang tank... tangs juz to fill up the tank so my mom doesnt complain the tank looks bare...

size is normally 17" and above... 20++
