Depend on the fish

I used to have

PT, YT, BT and PBT.

I introduced PT and YT at the same time, followed by PBT and last BT.

BT was the smallest and YT was the biggest.

However somehow 3 months down the road , BT become biggest followed by PT.

BT become the king mean eat most. So after I let go BT and PT, PBT become king and agressive on other fishes ( including YT ).

So in my case, PBT wasn't agressive as long as there are BT or PT.

If u want PBT do let me know haa haa me thinking of letting him go cause getting bigger ( 2 1/2" already )

Hi,currently i hv 1 yellow,1 purple and 1 powder brown tang in my 3X2X2 tank.If i would hv another 1 powder blue tang, will there be a war going on?

I once in same situation as you. But added the PBT, no fights.

I guess the shape of the fish makes the difference, ie, the PBT looks different from that of YT and PT. Powder Brown is more tame.

Different situation if you have 1 YT and add a PT. I watched my friend's YT wack a newly introduced PT in his tank, even with mirror method, to death in 20 minutes flat. Poor thing. We can't do anything to save the PT as both darting through the rocks with YT hot on the PT's heels.

When your tangs starts chasing each other after lights off or lights dim down means your tank lacking of good sleeping spots. The tangs are fighting for the golden landmark for sleeping.

You can help to create more holes etc so these sort of behaviours can be reduced.

Good tip that we can't find in books. ;)

mine fought... :(

added blue tang 1st, then 1 week later, added the brown tang

powder blue was very aggressive towards the brown fellow initially

so i rearranged my live rocks to confuse the powder blue and also

to create small hiding places/holes..

a few days later, the blue one was kicked out of its territory & left

wandering outside the live rocks area, while the black fellow occupied the

entire live rock area...
