Hello everyone, my marine tank is appropriately 2 feet in length. I'm currently using a AA protein skimmer ( those that works with an air wood ) and is thinking of upgrading to one of the Weipro protein skimmer. Which model should I buy and will the skimmer be too big for my tank? Oh ya, I heard that I'll need to buy a pump to get the skimmer working, is that true? How much will the pump cost and the skimmer cost? Thanks in advance :)

Why not get better skimmer rather than weipro...weipro is good for the price u paid for but for the long run get better skimmer will be more cost effective.

But if u insist on buying weipro, then go for 2014. And yes u need a pump to run it, those below 2000l/hr shld be fine...and the skimmer can be a hang-on to the side of ur tank.

Do a search on a reefer name "Eric". He did a modification on his skimmer, it can work with weipro and skimming well for my tank. :)

it's best when u have a skimmer that can skim equal to or more gallons than what your total water capacity is.. and IMO, a weipro works best when it's run by a pump overrated 2 times...

for example, my 2011 is run by a 2650lph pump... overrated right? but i get 'nice' skimmate... :peace:

it hink u use 2011 is good enough already.

and get a pump that can pump in 5-10times the volume of your tank water.

i and another reefer use 2012 for our 250 and 300L tanks...we both use weipro 4000 pump which deilives about 300L/hr....it works well and cheap too but we're using it for our FOWLR tank

if u're thinking of reef tank...i suggest u get sth better like macro needle
