here are some specs:

tank size: 4 x 2.5 x 2ft

sump: 3 x 1.5 x 1.5ft

chiller: 0.5 hp RR chiller

lighting: 2 x 250w 10000k

1 x 400w 10000k

Hi ReeferGuy

Great looking tank and you must have lots of satisfaction from the improved colour ;)

Need to check with you @ the temp. My tank is 3x2.5x2ft and sump is 2x2x1.5ft lighted by 2x250w.

My 0.5hp RR runs non-stop when the 2 MH turn on betw 3pm-9pm and hover @ 26.9c.

I set my temp @ 26c and diff @ 1.5c.

May I know your setting and does your chiller runs non-stop? :thanks:

linkin park, my tank is 4x2.5x2 w sump of 3x1.5x1.5 and im running 2 x 250w and 1 x 400w..... 2 x 250w kicks off at 12 noon while 400w at 1pm and lights off by 12midnite.... my 0.5rr chiller starts kicking off by around 3pm and runs all the way til about 9-10pm... my temp is set at 26deg as well with differential of 2deg..... but as soon as it kicks off, my temp will go up by .5deg before it starts cooling down.

It's amazing that your chiller can support your much bigger tank (than mine) and much stronger light (than mine by the 400w MH) and the chiller only start to run non-stop from 3pm. ;)

Mine starts running non-stop as soon as the 2 lights are running. Yours started running 2 hours after 3 MH on. :rolleyes:

I believe that we are using the same chiller, RR 0.5hp. Is there anything that I should do to get the chiller perform like yours? :thanks:

Linkin Park, juz my thoughts. is ur chiller due for maintenance? sludge and FOD stuck in the heat exchanger will hv an adverse effect on the chilling performance. ;)

linkinpark, nothing that i do with regards to cooling my water down, im just using a oceanrunner 3000 from sump to chiller to tank, lights are about 12' inches away from water surface.... could it also be the mere fact that my water has a bigger volume to heat up? i just recently bought a 2nd owned eheim 1262 to run my chiller.... i know its a bit overpowered but have to try out if it would make my cooling time faster.... anyway, read at scarab's UR TOTM that he's using same as return, might be his secret to success..... ;)

allan, anytime... can pass u a frag...... see u soon bro.....

things i have observed;

1. some grew fast but retained their brown color;

2. others grew fast then just stopped growing;

3. while others grow slowly but colouring up...

not sure what really determines such occurances be it lighting, water parameters or water circulation..... hope others can help enlighten these matter....
