SRC Member clowntrigger Posted September 14, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted September 14, 2004 Hi to all Need to find out if the oring gasket grease(silicone) is the same grease that we used to provide better seal to some of the scuba diving housing? My Calcium Reactor is experiencing a very small leak, guess due to the oring, was thinking of applying some of these to create a better seal, can anyone confirm if the gasket grease is the same thing as those used in Scuba Diving? Got the recomendation from MyReefCreation, thanks.

SRC Member clowntrigger Posted September 14, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted September 14, 2004 nope, this is not the screw thread type, it is those with groove and you need to rest the oring in it to act as a seal when both the piece are place on top of one another. If you look at the Reef Manic Calcium Reactor, the place whereby you have access to the media, it comes as a top piece and in between them there is a oring and once both the piece are clamp together, with the platic screws in place, the oring will then act as a seal. Hopefully you know what I am taking about.

SRC Member neokn Posted September 14, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted September 14, 2004 How about those white tape that pumber use to seal the threading of the pipes? Anyway, I am using the grease that I use for my fishing gear for all the O-ring in my skimmer. Works well but need to apply after a few loosening and tightening.
