Considerations in keeping corals

Hi all,

would like to find out which kind of setup for reef tank is best...

As I realised, many of us here are posting setups about plumbing, skimmers, etc... I was thinking in long term, leaving hardware aside - which kind of setup would be best?

Should I stock up a tank with similar kind of corals or diverse kind?

Will many different kind of corals compete and produce a stressful environment?

Will they grow and become impossible to be good "neighbours"?

Of course a variety of corals kind of tank would certainly look good with many corals... please state your views....

There is no such thing as BEST as this is a very subjective matter.

However you can have a SPS or stoney LPS/softies rank or a combination (you need to do some research on compatability here as some softies esp some species of finger corals can kill SPS without touching them).

From what I observed most long term hobbyist have a tendencies to shift from LPS to SPS which tends to be more colourful and more expensive of course, they can keep them more densly compared to LPS where their expansion can be tremendous.

There is no best set-up. ;) Just the set-up most suitable for the livestocks you wanted to keep.

Thus it is a knowledge game. You need to research on the basic requirement of the LS you wanted to keep then set-up the type of tank suitable for it.

An example will be if you like Bubble & Plata corals then set-ups with low current will be adviseable. But if you prefer SPS, then you will need high current, intense lighting & low bioload in order to keep them.

But I must say that it is sometimes possible to have a complete mixed reef. But this will comes with lots of reading, trials and research.

So have fun bro, ;)
