Chiller reads 27C, what does independent thermometer read?

If T above 24C+2C (26C), then chiller should be running all the time is that the case? Usually it should start running when T=26C and stop when you reach 24C.

You could try recalibratin the T sensor (instruction manual)

Hum, I'm using CL650 so it is different. Your temperature sensor should be okay because same as thermometer.

Maybe you need to clean up your chiller. There is a lining of stuff that forms on the exchanger that greatly reduces its efficiency especially if the chiller capacity is a bit to just for the the tank size. I suspect it is in your case; always better to take larger, especially with cheap china made chillers; don't trust the manufacturer label!!

Usually recomenteded to clean up every 6 months.

Disconect the chiller and run slightly diluted cheap vinegar in reverse for a few hours using a powerhead. reverse means inject through the outlet of the chiller and vinegar will come out through the inlet back to the bucket. Then run some fresh water the same way to clear vinegar traces and hook it back on.

hope it will work!

The lining that is found on the pipings is called scaling. Form by calcium deposits. It is also found in normal industrial piping. It is espescially serious in Marine setup due to the high Calcium hardness in our water~400ppm. It will cause corrosion known as pitting to the copper pipings. Which also mean that the piping will burst eventually. It will also affect the heat exchanging capability of the chiller and cause the chiller to run all day long thus increasing electrical consumption.

So how to clean it? Acid cleaning is one way. Run 15%HCl along the pipe line for hours. Vinegar commonly available is around 3%. It is very diluted. Will need to neutralise the acid before running it for the system. Acid cleaning is risky as it might just burst any part of the piping.

There are easier ways of cleaning the pipe but it contains phosphate. Maybe running the whole thing to Rowa might solve the problem.

I am trying to flush my chiller also. So will study the appropriate method and will let you guys know if it works.

In my opinion, I think your chiller is unable to cool your 3 feet tank water to 24 degree as you have set. You might need a higher hp chiller to achieve 24 degree. Resun CL280 is only 0.1hp.

:) Greeting :)

Tank: 4' by 2' by 2' (CR antique)

Sump: 3' include 1' refuigm
