Red Sea Surface Skimmer

Hi all,

anyone of you using a Red Sea Surface Skimmer add-on to your RS Skimmer? Was told by a LFS that the surface skimmer (retail $35) add-on is to draw the surface water in and remove the layer of "oil" commonly seen in a tank with corals.

Also helps in light penetration to the bottom of the tank since the surface water will be clear and clean.

I will be having a tank with fishes and coral and wondering whether I really need that add-on....expensive man!!

Anyone know of anywhere else that the RS surface skimmer add-on can be obtained at a lower price?

me use a cheapo china brand surface skimmer and fix it to the RS SKimmer.....take up more space as it fits differently from the Red Sea Surface Skimmer add-on ...but heck...it still works although not really sure of its effeciency....

the RS surface skimmer shld be readily available in petmart or reborn.

i tried the surface skimmer attachment that u mention...... IME it is no use.. it is not that effective........ u can stills see dust and oil on ur tank surface........
