Help, Shrimp Eating Away My Acro Tissue

Recommended Posts

hi all,

this is urgent!!! just noticed a small white patch on my acro. and i realised that there is some peppermint shrimp look alike living between the branches. it looks alot like a peppermint shrimp( shape wise) except that it's almost translucent and green which really blended in with my acro. really worried that it might belong to the same family as the peppermint shrimps and are eating away my acro tissues(which i suspect it is doing now). Any idea what is that?? and who knows how to remove them??? just as my acro is starting to encrust over the rock and grow, this has to happen...help!!! tried to suck it out while changing water just now but not working...

I have a shrimp similar to the one you describe. Quite small, nor more than half an inch. It lives in one of my acro colonies and does no harm.

I would leave it alone. However, if you are still keen on getting rid of it, pls let me know. I'd be happy to take it off your hands. :)

hi, just heard from spider that it does no harm too..apparently it's the hairy crab that's doing the harm...i just managed to catch it out but can i have a confirmation, is the tip of the pincers of a hairy crab black??

erm..can't really tell if it's hair leh..the shell looks pretty rough and coarse to me when i got it out of the water...the hair on the crab is very very short right? more like it's spiky???
