Hi, can I check with you if it is possible to modify this skimmer to work outside the tank (not hang on, not inside a sump)? I was told by the lady at havelock that I can use gravity to have the water flow into the skimmer and use a pump to pump the water back into the tank.

Huh? u can hang it outside ur sump and pump your water into the skimmer den let it flow out by itself... pretty independent of gravity...
