SRC Member minsmarine Posted September 6, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted September 6, 2004 Bro GB Don't give up. In the life we have up and down. So now u r in down try to cheer up by not looking up your crashed tank. Think about your new project and happy that u are going to repair all the mistake you had done We are human so we ( most of us ) learn from mistake we had made. Ur mother told u fire is hot , but u go back and ask your mother , she will smile and tell u that, eventhough she told u it's hot, u did touch the fire. As long as we dont repeat the same mistake, nothing to worry about May be u had no lucky today. I did put 30Kg of uncured LR to my running tank and I believe the lady luck was with me and nothing happened. So just look forward, u lost LS but not like LightingStrike. If u want to please urself look @ our bro LS, so u would feel better. However if u want to sad than look at me or visit to my house with SBS But I hope u just look at how other ppl suffer more than u do , than u will be fine Cheer Quote Life is like a peice of Uncured Live Rock [ from LFS ], you never know what you gonna get......... pangz
well.... at least you've got your equipment still... can start a nicer tank again! I think sway things happen to everyone, especially reefers, when there are so many parameters to consider and maintain. I almost lost all my tank water yesterday when my chiller hose broke loose and the pump started spraying water everywhere..... luckily was at home though.... Anyway, good luck in your future tank! take care again not to load so much LR at one time in an existing tank with LS.

SRC Member patrick123 Posted September 6, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted September 6, 2004 Bro, Sorry to hear about your lost. I personally also crashed my tank a few times. One time was with a died anemone and eventhough the tank is 6ft, the died anemone was 1ft giant. So that teach me a lesson not to buy big anemone. When they die, they have potential to crash your tank. The second time was that I connect my chiller with my fluidized rowaphos reactor using the same pump in a series configuration. Guess what, the fluidize reactor started to clog over the 2 months period (because of the black filter material), and the flow started slowing down. My tank temperature went up from 27-29 degrees for the whole week while I was out of town. So all my fish came down with serious ich. In any case, life goes on. We learn from our experience and move on. I think we should also share these crash experience with fellow reefer so that it can help someone else avoid the heartache. BTW, why do you need to take out all your LS while cycling your new LR? Since your tank is already cycled. Just add one piece at a time slowly over the course of a few weeks, and the mature tank should be able to take care of the ammonia....unless you have a really rotten LR. Cheers, Patrick
