Clams and Nitrates

Hi All,

I've read from the internet that Clams are good to control nitrates. Has anybody seen any significant change in the nitrates when clams were added?

The clams do take in a significant amount of no3 from my system . Especially my

2 giants . When my 1ft squamosa died.... my no3 gradually builds up even when

the conditions in my tank remains the same .

Yup.

Especially Derasa & Squamosa. There are reefers that house them in the sump to reduce nitrate.

Crocea & Maxima depend more on lights as they get their food from the zoos that they host. However, periodically filter feed too.

But also add that they eat up your calcium levels too
