Hi Guys, I have found a show sized AT which have been in the LFS for about 3 weeks. No visible spots, eating Red Bamboo algae and eating pellets too.

Issit safe to buy the specimen now that it has been kept healthy for at least 3 weeks in the LFS? Or it doesnt matter?

It all bottoms dwn to whether u practice quarantinin ur fish or not.

Aparts frm water conditions.....quarantinin, aclamatization, introduction, observation r all crtitical. U nd to put in some efforts....or u can juz dump the fish rite into main tank n pray for the best. ;)

This is the part that puzzle me. Why the tang always never show sign of ich in the LFS no matter how long they keep it, but when we introduce to our home tank and the ich will show up promptly on the 4th day?

What is it that the LFS is doing that we are not? A kickass UV light??

Stress. A new environment. Ich present in tank. lowered body resistance. Ich latches on to host. Its a vicious cycle.

If your tank has been fishless for a few months and you practice quarantine on your new fishes, LR, corals... you WILL get ich-free fish in your main tank if ich parasites are not transferred over.

Some of them have warmer water, ard 28-29 degrees which ich doesn't like, some of them have much lower salinity which ich does not thrive... :)

Alfa,

You're getting the Super Size AT?? :yeah::whistle

Nice fish, and they have been there for a long time......Altho I would prefer quarantine, unless you have another 4 ft tank as a quarantine, I think it might be better off if you put it straight into your tank...

Now taking a risk and injecting ozone at 50mg/hr via the beckett skimmer in a bid for the best water quality I can get... hope the beckett is ozone-proof...

ok...keep us updated...

if u can choose between a few....get smaller ones...

coz it really needs to swim alot....i see my one flap abit already hit the end of the tank....

those who have seen mine will agree....since i cannot change the AT, i can only change the tank next time.....

for you, since you still haven't gotten one, you can get a smaller AT so that it will not outgrow the tank so fast :)
