Heat generated by MH

Hi guys, need some info on the heat generated by MH

Does the heat produced by 150w and 250w MH about the same or completely different?

Because I reckon that the heat is just converted from the unused energy so was wondering whether there is any significant difference?

yes. diff wattage, diff heat load.

250W MH bulb generates more heat than 150W bulb. The unused energy is by the ballast which contributes another 30% or so of electrical energy.

So this means that the unused energy in the 250w is greater than 150w?

And is the difference significant?

Yep, proportionally greater.

For 150W, the extra heat is abt 45W

For 250W, the extra heat is abt 75W

Same like the clothes iron. The bigger wattage the hotter the iron.

even most not so cheap AV Amp (Hi-Fi) also giving out heat more than sound who bothers about bulbs

Bulbs efficient already. It's the nature of the accessories that is the problem.
