i tink its possible.

I myself am a DE user..... due to some browning or bleaching incidents, i have started to practice some method of acclimatizing mi corals esp when u know the coral comes from a lower lighted area. eg from a t5 tank.......

den again does that mean those corals from shallow reefs will do well in our tanks? not sure on this....

Too strong light can cause some SPS which have lower lighting requirement to fade leaving bleached look. One example of this is the light coloured monti caps.

Is it possible to have too much light as most of our MH are using max 400W. Compared to sunlight that the SPS are used to in the wild, our MH is like nothing.

but in nature, the coral might reside in much deeper waters....

There are some threads in both RC and UR saying that the reefers get much better colouration after they moved up the MHs from 4-6 inches to 10-12 inches.. SPS were becoming more tan-coloured and sumtimes bleaching at 4-6 but colouring up at 10-12.

Wondering how this is so as we have always assumed that the SPS needs max lighting and moving the MHs higher from the water surface will means more lost or light?

I am not quite sure consider in the wild the lighting is about 800W for normal afternoon sun.

I think there might be a possiblities of bulb not being manufactured properly which affect the light output spectrum but this are my guesses ..
