Weipro Protein Skimmer

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have been considering the 48inch x 24inch x 18inch tank from CR for quite some time. However their quote for the PS and pump seems pretty high.

Was considering getting this PS from a farm in Pasir Ris (Weipro SA-2012) but am unsure whether it will fit in the sump at the back of the tank (yes, the tank I am looking at comes with the filtration system at the back of the tank).

Can someone please advise me whether I should just get the PS from CR or go out and source one separately to save cost.

Appreciate all response.

Chris

weipro is considerably good for that kind of price...but it is not really advisable...

2012 for your 4ft tank is a little too small...but if u are on a real tight budget, u might wanna consider using this skimmer and have very very little fish + very very little feeding...

maybe around max of 5 small fishes and perhaps go to the limit with 1 big one...but anything more than that, corals might have a little problem...

i am a sinner with no skimmer in my tank...but i only have 1 blue cheek goby, 1 bi-colour blenny and 2 clown gobies and 1 rainfordi goby and 1 scooter blenny...all of them are less than 1inches except for the blue cheek...so far my corals doing ok (cannot consider well because some stil die off)...another important thing is that i only feed once in 2 days, half a cube of brine shrimp each...

actually if you are running fish only...you might even get away without a skimmer if you keep your bio-load low....i kept a small blue tang and clown fish for 2 months before getting a second hand skimmer from a fellow reefer...

but if you are looking at corals, then i think a 2012 might be on the edge of its ability to support a four footer...

I have the 2ft version from CR too (the one with the sump at the back). ;)

I feel that you should consider buying your equipment from external is you have the time to do your own measuring and research.

For me, I feel the biggest constraints is the width of the back sump that forbid is used of bigger pump and does not permit the use of in-sump skimmer. So you option is only Hang-On Type.

I eventually settled for a Seaclone with Maxijet. I do not know whether the Weipro with Weipro pump will be able to fit. But I know the Deltec H.O.T., Aqua C Remora Pro is a better bet. ;)

But I must say that CR's customer services is fantastic. ;)
