Tank glass blur when wipe with cloth

Hi all,

Can anyone advise what you use to wipe the exterior tank glass. Mine seems to have water mark on it and no matter how I wipe, the tank glass seems to leave a trail of the wiping (tank glass is blur, like having a layer of grease).

I always use newspaper to clean the glass.

Think the oil on the paper also help to make the glass shine.

yup, use newspaper wif glass cleaning detergent shld do the trick.

I use normal glass cleaning fluid (Kiwi Kleen Glass) with a paper towel. No problem and glass very clear.

think its sth to do with the salt.

i compare it with my freshwater....wah...a huge difference

just do wat the above people do and it should be fine

Me too do the same... It's the saltwater that leaves the traces I think

It's definitely the saltwater, I am thinking it could be just salt from the water that has evaporated off.

It's actually the calcium in the saltwater that is leaving those horrible white stain. They are insoluble in water that's why cleaning with vinegar works as it dissolves these stain just like limescale.

You get the same stains in cichlid tanks.

Yes, I think it's evaporated salt and other residue. Will be good to wash with warm water, and then clean with newspaper or any glass cleaner spray - just be careful, most commercial glass cleaners use ammonia, so, better to spray on the paper, and then clean, rather than spray on the glass directly (in case you get some into your water!)

Seen those glass wiper with a rubber edge? Been using those and is very effective - just a wet cloth and wiper, no need for glass cleaner liquid. Like what Tanzy said, if you have stains, remove with vinegar first.

Yeah, totally agree to it. The traditional way of cleaning glass panels learned from my days working in a fastfood restaurant is still definitely the best way to get rid of water stains and make your tank shines.

Use newspaper and tap water to wipe the exterior glass would be more then enough.

Yah agree... so its best to use newspaper. Firstly its cheap and its easily available unless your family does not read the papers.. hehe
