how do u guys maintain?

Recommended Posts

really?

i just bought tonnes of these supplements!!!

i thought it'd be good for me to dose them for my corals and coralline algae

Bro, its okay if you bought all those supplements, but the best is dat u have testkits to test, so dat u dun overdose, and also, do follow the instructions closely.... U may also wanna dose less than the reccommended dosage... :)

Strontium

It is most useful in densely populated aquariums requiring a continuous supply of strontium. It has a pH of 8.2 and is neither acidic nor caustic. It provides a rich source of metabolic energy to help maintain peak coral growth. Excess strontium my enhance the loss of carbonate alkalinity.

Iodide

Dosing mainly for aquariums with heavy protein skimming, activated carbon or with rapidly growing corals and seaweeds which will rapidly deplete iodine concentrations, specially for those with dense populations of invertebrates or soft corals. An overdose of iodine in the system can kill beneficial bacteria, leading to the rapid demise of the system’s inhabitants.

Calcium

Calcium aids growth of purple, pink and green calcareous algaes, snails, hard tube worms and clams. Corals will open more and stay attached to their skeletons better, with regular use. If overdosed, the high pH of the limewater will rapidly convert much of the bicarbonate in the tank to carbonate, increasing the likelihood of precipitating calcium carbonate. Also, addition of solid lime particles can cause local extreme spikes in pH and calcium that nucleate precipitation of calcium carbonate. However, this rarely causes lasting harm to tank inhabitants (at least that has been recorded to date).

Hope that helps
