Cyno are bacteria and not algae thus the crab you are looking for does not exist.

Cyno are best prevented by:

1. increasing water flow

2. reduce feeding

3. improve skimming

Last resort is to nuke it with "Red Slime Remover" but bear in mind that it is a anti-bacteria and thus use with caution. ;)

not too sure if they are algae or not...but then they are called cyanobacteria so i guess you are right.....

but some hermit crabs DO eat them....i've seen them eating!!!!

but then i came to realize that end of the day its good husbandry that counts....using crabs or slime remover is just short term solution and does not really get to the root of the problem....in fact they cause other sets of problems!

Crab, like all deritus feeders will eat anything that they can reach.

When you see them eating, they are eating the by-product of Cynos not the bacteria itself.

yes, i am running a fuge with a 6" DSB and some caluperas (spell).....my sand bed is overrun with cyno... funny thing is that my main tank is free....phew!

i am running a 24/7 lighting on my fuge to prevent a nuke...got it once...so better be save then sorry...lucky found out in time...thus only very little damage..

just wanna reduce the cyno as it is quite unslightly...so not hoping for a quick cure but a long term solution. I cannot do much abt the water flow.....i dun feed much...(i hope)....and i need the lighting leh...

ooh...i also got rowa!!!...and the best thing...the bag which contains the rowa..is also fully untilised by cyno!!!!

so wat will be my best solution?

can use a sandglider to overturn your sandbed in your sump.. cyno can't stick when the fish keeps filtering the sand..

Dust to debris has a point. Maybe can consider some bottom dweller to move the sand. ;)
