Tank Thickness For Fowlr

I know 10-12mm thickness is needed for reef keeping but can a 3 or 4ft tank with 8mm thickness be use for a FOWLR?

Since it wont be heavily stock with corals and LR is 8mm feasible?

IMO, thinkness 8mm should be safe for 3 ft for the FOWLR...

Im thinking of custom making either 8mm for 3ft or 10mm for 4ft. The base will be thicker then the sides.

So i need some advice and comments in case the tank goes "kah boom" under the weight of the DSB and LR.

1 more thing... anywhere to get custom made tanks at a reasonable price? Dont wanna get "chop" by LFS.

Agree with spiderone. Since u r gonna custom your tank, go for at least 10mm. 12mm best. Not much difference in price but a lot of difference in safety. You'll sleep a lot more better at night.

But if u still decide on 8mm which is still ok, try to place the tank on a wooden plank n styrofoam if you are using metal stands. Also try not to lean too much rocks on the side of the glass.

10 mm and 12 mm for 4 feet tank its safe dun try to make it less even with Freshwater its recommended to be 10mm or 12mm..

8 mm i think 3 feet can but its better to be safe and spend a bit more..

for a tank that would last for years..
