I think it is better to check your water parameter before you dose anything.

Otherwise, you will not only waste money but affects your water parameter too. Dosing Ca will cause your dKH to drop and may affect your pH too.

oh i see. .thank for ur info.. will be careful while dosing additive.. any good test kit that is nt costly?

I have been using Sera but a lot of pple say it is not very good. Salifert is the best but is very ex.

I would suggest getting pH, dKH and Ca test kit since you want to dose Ca.

The ideal Ca is 420ppm. If you tank's is more than that, no need to dose. You can get very good coralline algae growth by keeping your dKH > 9 and Ca >= 420.
