Need Help !!!

Hi guys!

I've just bought a pink cauliflower and a small white colored leather that looks like a christmas tree..

Can any one advise the lighting requirements for these 2 lps.

Need to know if they need low, medium or strong light. So as to position them best within the tank.

These are very difficult corals even for experts to keep alive and thriving

You might want to research more before you perchase the coral

Thanks for the comment. I know the difficulty of these 2 corals and would like to gather from experience of fellow reefers.

I've been in this hobby long enough to understand about doing research.. Sometimes it takes a little more of a learning spirit, to have a better understanding of our reef tanks.

Cauliflower do not need lighting. They just need medium to strong current as they are filter feeder.

For leather, they like medium to strong lighting and medium current.

For the Pink Cauliflower, it needs low lightings, good waterflow n frequent feedings. Not too sure bout ur another coral but think it's the same requirement.

Hmmm....Try feeding it frequently with phyto and rotifers...invert a bottle over it daily with the food mixture concentrated in the bottle.

1st thing to say, is that they are not LPS. they are soft corals, if u haf been reading a book that says that, i think u should juz recycle the book.

the key to caulis are phyto, phyto, phyto... they filter off a lot of phyto, trust me... i haf abt 5 rocks of them, and i dose 25billion phyto cells a day. if there isnt any phyto, then they will not be erect, and sag. after abt 1 week it will fall off.

I didnt dose phyto, seem like the 2nd pic i post is a photosynthetic and the 1st pic i post is not. Yes i place both coral at the bottom, just using 3 x T5 with addition of some evening sunlight.

I have another small white cauliflower which i place on top of my tank and it start to grow. will post the pic if able to take it.

Can ID me the 2nd pic i posted as i cant find this in web, and from LFS, it sound to me like colt of cauliflower but is much easier to keep compare to pink cauliflower.
