Appetizers or food for Dwarf Angels?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

was wondering if you guys use any products or appetizers that may entice my flame angel and half moon dwarf angel to eat meaty stuff.

At the moment they ONLY eat the algae on my rocks and glass. How do i achieve making them eat some meaty stuff cos the green algae on the rocks are almost gone and i really wanna scrub the algae off the glass. Scared they will stave.

Ive tried all kinds of food they look also dun wanna look. eg. mysis, brine, Blended home made food from ML (which i believe includes sliver fish, nori clams mussels etc.)

Or what kind of algae food does any of yr dwarf angels eat? i bought OMEGA ONE KELP FLAKES, MARINE VEGGIES, GREEN SEAWEED and spirulina flakes and they still dun eat.

:(

Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

There are lots of reasons why fish will refuse to feed...while the type of food offered might be the reason, most of the time the likely cause is stress.

Might be due to collection and shipping stress...or acclimatization stress. Remove any forms of stress and they should start feeding soon. Make sure your rockworks make them feel secure, make sure no fishes are bothering them, make sure your water conditions are on target (Angelfishes are very sensitive to high levels of nitrates), don't appear in front of the tank too much as new fishes need peace and quiet to settle down. Dim the lights if neccessary once you introduce new fish. You gotta put yourself in the fish's "shoes" once in awhile.

Since your fish are already grazing you should'nt worry too much as angelfishes are grazers in nature. Just continue with your normal feeding routine and they should take to it once they are settled down enough. Feeding any extra foods might only have a negative impact on your water quality. A great component of a staple diet for marine fish would be frozen mysis. Most fish find it hard to resist mysis. Even "herbivorous" tangs take to them..

Always something more important than fish.

THANKS GUYS FOR ALL THE VALUABLE TIPS,

Flame started eatintg liao ehhe.

He took down brimp shrimp

though they were adult ones which i bought. Guess he needed something alive and kicking to interest him. besides that i took fuel bro advice and bought more LR so he had more hiding space. At first i was worried cos he hid behind there for the whole day!!!!! i didnt go to work that day jus to look at him. but after that he came out and i kept feeding small amounts of brimp shrimp. after 2 days he finally eat. now everday his appetite seem to increase!!!!

have added mysis to wean and induce him to eat along with the brimp..

WISH ME LUCK!!!!
