Don't worry. Most of the LR available in Singapore comes from Indonesia. Occasionally, you might get Fiji or Tonga rocks but they cost a lot more. Just find a place that sells LR at a reasonable price and pick nice pieces avoiding boulder shaped ones.

Imported aragonite sand from the US cost a bomb! The crushed coral we get is aragonite, so unless you own a Bentley, just get normal coral sand.

Aragonite is a kind of calcium carbonate crystal. Especially produced by corals. Limestone is calcium carbonate too but it's calcite crystals.

Bentley

How can you have never heard of Bentley! Blasphemy!

bentley is a branch from rolls royce if i'm not wrong. so that explains the price tags on cars from either make.

Hi know bentleys and I know where to buy live rocks. I just added common coral sand and the salt in my 3 day old tank, 4 x 2 x 2 feet.

Can someone tell me when can I add live rock in? I've got this idea that everything dies in a newly set up tank!! I'm afraid the organisms in LR will die as well, or do the stuff that dies actually is necessary for the stuff that lives?

Also, how much LR is recommended for my tank size?

Appreciate any advice!

Hi,

If u're intending to kick-start your tank with ammonia source from the LR, u can simply put them in on the same day u have your tank set-up.

It will have some decomposition of the organism going on in the LR &

This will help to get ur nitrogen cycle started.

But not to worry, the LR may have die during this cycling period, it will become alive again in the future when ur tank is more establised and stuff will appear on ur lr ONCE AGAIN :D

As for the amt of LR, the more the merrier, provided ur tank and it's stand can support the weight. The LR aid in the tank Bio-filtration and also use sufficient LR for ur aquascaping!!

Regards

Benson

was at PET SHOP BOY'S yesterday, and the owner is really helpfull with information on selecting live rocks and even advise me on marine setup.

i greatly appreciate his advise and i am bound to be back there for more.

and yea, the live rocks are selling like only $8 per KG.

which i think is compareble to pasir ris farm.

cheers all, just wanna share my thoughts with newbies like myself.

*and every friday , they replanish live stocks and LR.
