If it is just soft coral - dont bother with other parameter - just go get ammonia, nitrite and nitrate testkit and measure .. -- the first 2 must be zero .. the last one ....debatable .... but at best not more than 10 ppm as soome coral can't take high nitrate.

go to PetMart and ask for a handy chart printed by Tropic Marine which gives all the optimal water parameters for PH, KH, Ca, etc etc. It is given free.

may be other lfs have such a chart or something similar.
