my tank is 5ft in length and 2 feet tall..

will be having lps and softies only..

told by a friend that 2x150W is not enough

how about 2x175W?

hope to cover most areas by hanging it higher.. help to reduce heat too.

dont wish to get 3x150 or 2x250W as im not running on chiller but fans only..

bro, lifting your lights higher will create loss in intensity...dun forget that your tank is 2ft tall...

i've nvr seen a 175W MH b4 and i dun think the bulbs come in a wide varieties like 150W and 250W...10kk, 14kk, 20kk blah blah blah...

Dun think you will find 175w MH easily the bulb also not easy to get... The best chioce is either supplement with T5s or go for 2x250... With your water volume... It shouldnt get too hot...

Since you only will keep LPS and Softies, i see no problem to get away with 2 x 150W. Keep them about 12 inches off the surface will be fine. You can place more light demanding LPS closer to the source. Alternative is to add a 4ft 2x 54W T5 for additional fill in light if you want.

not hot? i think 2x250 will be very hot leh,

im using 4fans to cool my 2x150w temp is 29-30 without aircon liao...

i'll try 2x150w higher up and see if things goes better.. if not must change liao thanks anyway

if you raise the MHs, you may not be able to get good depth penetration...if your reason for raising MH is to get a larger spread, you may consider tinkering with the setup so as to accomodate better reflectors.
