SRC Member beaver Posted August 16, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted August 16, 2004 Hi there, I am thinking of adding more grade 0 sand to my existing tank with only about 1inch gravel. I know I may be pushing my luck, but can I leave the fish in the tank after I've added the additional sand? I have no coral at the moment but only LR & a yellow tang, a blue devil,a domino damsel, a maroon clown & a purple fire-fish. I intend to add to about 3 more inches. Any complication? My tank is 3 x 2 x 2 with an internal overflow unit. Thanks! Beaver
SRC Member jesperlam Posted August 16, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted August 16, 2004 Why not? but you must remember to add slowly and not the whole amount in one go, it'll stress your LS. Maybe over a period of few days. Best to do it when ur lights are off.

SRC Member tineng Posted August 16, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted August 16, 2004 Best to do it when ur lights are off. one thing i learn....don't do major things like rescaping ...etc at night...you might accidentally bury one of the sleeping fishes alive!!!! SRC Member moxa Posted August 16, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted August 16, 2004 might need to off powerhead inside your tank to minimise any sand storm need a bit of technic to level the sand to the sand bed since you are using grade 0 sand. (a long PVC pipe and a funnel at the top is one way.) some reefer actually came up with good idea how to add sand without causing much turbulance to the sand bed.. might want to consider getting a bottle of solution to clear cloudy water fast. sorry can't remember the name but can find it LFS usually cheers Moxa
