S$500 for normal ones and S$1000 for R-rated ones...my colleague's uncle got it...they took his particulars and then despatched a team to his house while he was on his way back home from the causeway. The fine was S$30 000+. That was a BIG lesson for the family...:sick::sick:

But that was four years back.. :P

maybe now they give chances...I ever kanna Mr Bean's tapes many years back...they made me go to the colourful building near Hill Street to pay $60 for 3 tapes and never got back the tapes. :(

Nowadays, I dun buy pirated ones after hearing all the horror stories... B)

They still do raiding now. Dun get caught with pirated softwares from Microsoft,or those big listed company. It's gonna cost you more than $30,000 fine.

Sometimes they wait a few days before raiding, sometimes they do it immediately.

Few of my friends kenna, some bought online but when it was mailed to Singapore, the customs opened it to check then send them to Media Authority of Singapore. MDA will then sent you a letter and asked you to go collect there.

It's ok if you dont go but they won't charge you or fine you for that since it's mailed and you can always say your friend send you without knowledge of the laws here and get away with it.

That's about all I know. :P

Cheers

last time for me, i'll only buy pirated stuff when i have my notebook with me...buy it copy it to the notebook then throw away the disc...sometime will also leave 1 or 2 disc in the CD tray of the notebook.... ;)

but now never buy pirated CD already....2 reasons, most stuff can be downloaded (if you know where to look) for free and second, when things are free and cheap you never watch them anyway.....At one point I have about 400++ VCD of virtually all shows availabe (movies and drama) in Singapore....then realise that i have only watch less then 10% of it so in the end gave it all away to the aunties and uncles in my family/neigbourhood.....

I think for games they wun really make a big issue out of it...wads more serious will be R(A) movies..usually when i buy games my father will tell me not to hide it...cos if u hide and is caught, they will search ur whole vehicle for any more hidden stuffs..i usually leave it on the dashboard or along with other stuffs..my father usually discourage me from buying vcds or dvds...mayb 1 or 2 is okay..

Btw, my dad is a custom officer..haha
